This Family Boat Building Program brings the opportunity for individuals of any skill level to construct their own salt bay skiff! This two-day workshop is held the first Saturdays and Sundays April-September from 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (Children: 12 years and older are welcome).

Starting Saturday, each group is assigned their own wooden boat expert who will guide your team (2-5 people) every step of the way through the construction of a 12-foot, 90-pound salt bay skiff (no experience is necessary). On Sunday, after a ceremonial launch and row on Gig Harbor Bay, the skiff will be yours to take home and enjoy forever.

Over the weekend you will be introduced to joinery, gluing, clamping, sawing, beveling, planing, sanding, precise measuring and the use of many of the hand tools that are still used by wooden boat builders throughout the world.
