Gig Harbor Now is posting profiles featuring the Students of Distinction being honored by the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation. Peers, teachers or parents nominate students, who must be a graduating senior at a Peninsula School District school. A panel of community leaders selects students to be honored in one of seven categories: academics; athletics; career and technical excellence; community service; music, arts and drama; overcoming adversity; and science and technology.

These students will be celebrated during a banquet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Ocean5, 5268 Point Fosdick Dr.

Amelia Lindberg discovered her passion not in the spotlight, but just behind it — where production cues, lighting transitions, and creative coordination breathe life into every performance. A dedicated stage manager in the making, Amelia has transformed her high school years into a launchpad for a career in live theater and technical arts.

At Henderson Bay High School, Amelia embraced the flexible and personalized learning model to its fullest, using her time outside traditional classroom walls to immerse herself in real-world opportunities. With a clear focus on production and stage management, she worked on multiple productions including her proudest role yet — serving on the team of Ms. Nelson Is Missing at Bremerton’s Admiral Theatre. It was her first professional show and a significant step into the industry, one she handled with enthusiasm and poise.

Amelia’s CTE courses – from Play Production to Community Leadership – have not only equipped her with practical skills, but empowered her to develop her voice, advocate for her own education, and help her community. Her leadership skills flourished in the theater and beyond, supported by teachers like Emily and Andrea who saw her potential and encouraged her to lead, learn, and lean into her passion.

With more than four years of technical theater experience, the Golden Tech Award under her belt, and plans to either attend Cornish College of the Arts or step directly into the industry, Amelia is poised to carve her path in the world of stage management. Her story is a testament to the power of hands-on learning and a reminder that sometimes the best performances happen behind the curtain.
