BAKER, Ore. — A Gig Harbor man died Friday afternoon and his father was hurt when the motorcycles they were riding went off Highway 7 near Mason Dam and crashed.

David Anderson IV, 35, was riding a Honda VTX 1800 and David Anderson III, 65, also of Gig Harbor, was on an Indian Roadster, according to Oregon State Police. The son died at the scene. The father was flown Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise where he was in fair condition Monday.

According to an OSP report, based on witness statements and evidence on the highway, the riders were headed east at about 4:07 p.m. They sped up to pass other vehicles just before a sweeping turn to the right. They failed to make the curve, left the roadway and were ejected from the bikes.
