Letter to the editor: Randall’s record worthy of support

Posted on October 24th, 2022 By: Elizabeth Murray

I am concerned about my health and safety and honestly, my pocket book, which is why I’m voting to re-elect State Senator Randall.

I knew enough to thank Randall for the 75 cent reduction in Tacoma Narrows Bridge tolls (nearly $200 annually for commuters), for the reduction of insulin prices, and for her support of personal health care choices, but after receiving such hateful mailings from the opposition, I read her actual record.

Emily proposed these bills (among many others): SB5398 to provide small businesses excise tax relief, SB5698 for cost-of-living adjustment for teacher and public employee’s retirement, SB5611, to support retired veterans, and SB5764 for apprenticeships since not everyone wants to go to college.

Randall rode with the county sheriffs to find the best ways to stop crime, not just talk about the problem, whereas her opponent, Young, proposed charging health care providers who prescribe medications that induce abortion as a class C felony. I am a parent, so I appreciated her proposing SJR8204 to amend the state Constitution to allow 55 percent of voters to authorize school district bonds.

Thank you, Emily Randall, for your fight to make our community safe and affordable, as well as your continued support for our citizens with disabilities.
