Letter to the Editor | Not clear how Kensington is classified
The article on Kensington Gardens was very informative.
I can only comment on their self-description as a luxury resort and senior care facility (from their website), and vague description as assisted living. There is no way to check any reviews or ratings by Medicare because Medicare does not rate independent living or assisted living, which this place sounds like.
Their self-described services also mention “continuing care,” which normally means guaranteed care across the continuum of needed care, up to and including Skilled Nursing provided by RNs. If they do provide assisted living, it is not clear from the owners’ description whether they employ Certified Nursing Assistants, who are the gold standard for this type of care–basically custodial care or help with two or more of the “activities of normal living”/ADLs like dressing, toileting, transferring, eating etc.–or RNs, who would oversee any “skilled” nursing care which might be provided (it apparently is not provided).
Therefore, the only recommendations about their “care” or the value for the relatively high cost would come from word of mouth. Those reviews appear to be mixed and mostly are concerning the staff’s warmth, friendliness and emotional support.
