City to hold police chief open house Thursday

Gig Harborites will get a chance to meet the four finalists for the city’s open chief of police position on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Following Chief Kelly Busey’s retirement in June, the city appointed Lt. Tray Federici to serve as interim police chief for the duration of the city’s candidate search. Federici told Gig Harbor Now that he had applied for the position.

The city declined to name the finalists. When asked who the finalists were, the city told Gig Harbor Now that, due to their recruiting agency’s recommendations and legal considerations, it would not release the names of the candidates before Thursday’s forum.

The forum is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview St. Members of the public will get a chance to hear from the candidates and ask them questions.
