Letter to the Editor | Engage Gig Harbor connects neighbors and candidates
Engage Gig Harbor (EGH) was formed by a group of residents in 2022. We are a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to bring neighbors together so we can grow our community’s involvement by engaging with each other and our elected officials.
EGH hosted another successful event on September 9th at Evergreen State Brewery. Candidates for the November 4th election for mayor and council members were on hand to have informal conversations contributing to a better understanding of candidate positions. Seven of the nine candidates attended including Mayor Mary Barber, council candidates Loreto Tessicini, Patrick Ammann, Stephen McDuffie, and Julie Martin, council member Emily Stone, and council member Jeni Woock.
On October 21st, EGH will host another community conversation with the candidates. We hope Gig Harbor residents will take this unique opportunity to engage with the candidates to share your concerns and ideas about the most pressing issues facing our city. The event will be at 6 p.m. at the Boatyard at the Gig Harbor Marina.
Engage Gig Harbor, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, encourages civic participation – whether through supporting local elections, serving on a Commission or Board, tuning in to public meetings or providing valuable input to our elected officials. Through our email list and website, EGH provides updates and reminders about critical opportunities to engage with elected officials through surveys, council study sessions, etc.
