We sadly announce the passing of our beloved mother;

Joyce Roberts Myhre

March 24, 1931-September 13, 2025

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Lloyd A. Myhre in 2011, and infant son Marc in 1961. Preceding also, her parents Hugh and Dorothy, and her younger sister, Linn Lucas. Surviving are her children Chris (Suzanne), Wendy (Ray), and Jill (Geoff). She was so graciously blessed to have 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also grieve and share in our loss.

Joyce graduated from Stadium High School in 1949, where she also met Lloyd. She attended and graduated with honors from the University of Washington, and later received her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Puget Sound.

Lloyd and Joyce resided in West Virginia for only a short time, this was the beginning of Joyce’s career as an elementary school teacher. After moving to Tacoma and staying home with her children, she began substitute teaching, which soon became a full-time teaching career that lasted 30 years. Before leaving education, she also found a second career in Real Estate, which she successfully navigated for 20 years. Just as she loved her students, she felt that same connection with her clients. It was genuine, and is why she was such an outstanding teacher and agent.

Lloyd and Joyce loved to travel, taking an annual visit to Puerto Vallarta, but also covering journeys and travels to 6 of the 7 continents. Joyce belonged, and remained active to her sorority of Alpha Chi Omega. She was a lifelong member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and attended both First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, then later Chapel Hill Presbyterian in Gig Harbor.

She was blessed to reside her last few years at Gloria’s House in Tacoma. We would like to thank the owners and staff of this amazing home that exude love and caring each and every day!!

In lieu of flowers, Joyce would be pleased if donations could be made to St. Jude for children’s cancer research, in the name of: Marc Allen Myhre.
