Letter to the Editor | Museum grateful for city’s support
Thank you for the article about Proposition #1: Cultural Access. I wanted to clarify one detail about the city’s support for the museum over the last few years. While the city doesn’t own the museum building or land, nor are we city employees, we are grateful for city support for both the Maritime Gallery completion and a five-year agreement to provide free admission to all. Among many other fund-raising efforts, we continue to receive a Lodging Tax grant that we apply for each year to help support our facility, marketing, exhibits, and programming.
Cultural Access, if passed by the voters, could really expand our programming — from more open hours and programs for teens to continued support for free days. Second Saturday of each month is Free Day at the Museum.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Lile
