Gig Harbor Quilters’ annual show abloom in a sea of fabric

Quilts Ahoy! — the name of this year’s Gig Harbor Quilters’ annual show — set sail in Swift Water Elementary’s gymnasium, with more than 150 colorful quilts on display over the weekend.

The many quilters in the event showcased different techniques in their work, ranging from traditional patterns to more daring modern moves. Several artists participated in the quilting challenge, which this year was floral-themed. Quilter Judy Clark was this year’s featured artist, and was on-hand to speak with attendees about her work.

Proceeds from the show will go towards the organization’s many charitable causes, including making blankets for newborns and people undergoing cancer treatment.
