Harbor Happenings | Ancich Park building to be dedicated in honor of paddling club founder
The city of Gig Harbor will officially name a boat storage building at Ancich Park in honor of Gig Harbor Canoe and Kayak Racing Team founder Alan Anderson on Friday, March 27.
The dedication ceremony begins at 4 p.m. at the park at 3589 Harborview Drive.
Anderson got his first kayak nearly four decades ago and was quickly bit by the racing bug, which led to the formation of the GHCKRT in 2002. The team has since won numerous championships, including 11 national titles. Anderson also founded the Narrows Challenge, which brings together paddlers of all kinds every year.
