Olalla Food Center closed following fire
The Olalla Food Center at 12688 Olalla Valley Road is closed following a fire on Sunday, April 12.
South Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire there around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters from Gig Harbor, the Key Peninsula and Bremerton also responded and extinguished the fire within about an hour.
The store is near Olalla Elementary School at the corner of Olalla Valley and Burley Olalla roads. South Kitsap Fire maintains a station less than 2 miles away.
According to a story in the Kitsap Sun newspaper, “the first crews at the scene observed heavy smoke and flames coming from an exterior access door.”
Nobody was injured in the fire. Its cause is unknown, pending a determination by the Kitsap County Fire Marshal’s Office.
