Lynn M. Novotney, 70

Lynn Novotney, beloved spouse, mother and Nana, passed away peacefully at her Gig Harbor home on March 12, 2026, at the age of 70 of Liver failure due to cancer.

Born on March 18, 1955 at Tacoma General to Art and Margaret Knodel, Lynn grew up with her brothers, Dan, Art and Dave. Lynn graduated from Peninsula High School in 1973. She married her husband, Tom, of 46 years on February 16, 1980, and had three children, Matthew, Jonathan and Jennifer.

Lynn earned her accounting degree at University of Alaska and her teaching degree at Alaska Pacific University. Though she was excited with earning the degrees, she was the happiest being home as the focal point and care giver for the family.

Her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren, Roary, Rafe, Ender, Paul and Thea, telling them stories, making projects and cooking their favorite cookies and desserts. Lynn loved sewing and knitting. Seasonal quilts were her specialty. And she knitted weekly with two local knitting groups. There was always two or three projects going at the same time. I am grateful that knitters from these groups are finishing up her last four knitting projects for the grandkids and a friend from Palmer, Alaska, who is finishing the last quilt for Thea.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Tom; children Matthew, Jonathan, and Jennifer; grandchildren Roary, Rafe, Ender, Paul and Thea.
