Letter to the Editor | WSDOT’s ’roundabouts first’ policy

re: Will safety enhancements this summer tame traffic at risky intersection north of Gig Harbor?

WSDOT’s “roundabouts first” policy would be nice. Unfortunately there are drivers that don’t know how, or are afraid, to merge into them. Often these drivers stop and wait for an opening they can handle. What makes the Burnham/Borgen/Harbor Hill’s six roundabouts difficult is that each has different characteristics, some two lanes, some exit only lanes, etc. Woe be it the motorist in the right lane on Borgen wanting to go south (east) on 16.
