Funeral Home WebsiteLynda Carole Wickline left this Earth on May 25th, 2026 in Auburn, WA, after her struggle with dementia from Alzheimer’s. She spent her final moments much like she spent most of her life: surrounded by family, love, and music.
She was born on March 11th, 1947 in Lennox, California, to Ernest and Nona Jorgenson. Lynda married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Wickline, on August 1st, 1970. That same year, they graduated from the University of Southern California and began their teaching careers.
In 1975, they bought a cozy cottage overlooking Echo Bay on Fox Island, Washington, where they raised their two daughters, Mandi and Marcee, and where they made lifelong friends. Lynda continued teaching until they welcomed their second daughter, at which point she decided to devote her life to family, her church community, and music.
Music was a defining factor in their lives. Bob and Lyn formed a band in the late 1970s and toured the West Coast, bringing their daughters along for the ride! Whether they were performing at fairs, teaching the history of Bluegrass at school assemblies across the state for 18 years, or spreading cheer through their beloved Down-Home Christmas concerts, Lynda poured her heart into every performance and shone onstage! She had an amazing ear, a beautiful voice, and was gifted when it came to vocal arrangements.
Being an open-minded and open-hearted Christian was central to her personality. Her spiritual home was at Fox Island United Church of Christ where she was a member of the choir for over 40 years and where she served as church historian and facility coordinator for quite some time. Having an amazingly creative mind and a love for teaching children, she planned and directed Vacation Bible School for many years, developed a puppet ministry, helped start a children’s choir, and taught Sunday school. In 2019, Lyn and Bob received the FIUCC Debbie Clegg Emeritus Award “for the contribution of their musical talents and creativity…”
Lynda’s gentle soul, nurturing spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering warmth are deeply missed. She had an inner light that shone through the twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to garden, cook, and feed the birds outside her window, but no matter what she was doing, she was always whistling a tune!
Lynda is survived by her husband, Bob, daughters, Mandi and Marcee, and two grandchildren, Soleia Marina and Lukai Lyn. At rest, she is now reunited and at peace with her sister, Ramona George, and brother, David Jorgenson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 11th, at 4:00 pm at the Fox Island United Church of Christ with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fox Island United Church of Christ in honor of Lynda Wickline.
