Richard Leroy Glein, 90

Richard Leroy Glein (Dick), a Gig Harbor resident for 40 years passed away on July 18, 2026 at nearly 91 years of age.

Dick was born October 23, 1935 and grew up in Tacoma. He graduated from Stadium High School, served in the US Army in Germany, and then completed a BA at the University of Puget Sound. He was an owner of McGanney Vending and then worked with his brother Gary at Norcore Plastics until he retired in 2005.

He was an active drag racer and car enthusiast and enjoyed Boating on Puget Sound. He lived on the water in Wauna for many years where he raised his sons, Mike and Danny. Since 1996, Dick has lived with his wife Linda on 63rd Street in Terri Hills. He enjoyed his large garage and restored a Triumph and an Austin Healy Sprite.

The Glein family has a long history in Gig Harbor. His grandparents were married in Norway in 1898 and immediately immigrated to the United States. On his grandmother’s side, the Jensen’s homesteaded in Rosedale in 1908. On the Glein side, his uncle started Glein Boatbuilding in 1945 which is now the Boat Shop. His father Bjarne John Glein lived in Tacoma and passed in 1993. His mother, Violet lived in Gig Harbor until her passing at age 99 in 2009 and his Brother Gary Glein and his sister Janet Ritting still live here as does his wife Linda Demonovich Glein.

Dick was very outgoing and enjoyed bantering with his friends and siblings throughout his life. He will be missed by those who enjoyed has friendship.

He is survived by his brother and sister of Gig Harbor, his sons Mike (California) and Dan (Tacoma) and his wife of 64 years, Linda, also of Gig Harbor.
