Peninsula falls one play short against undefeated Lakes

The Peninsula (2-4, 1-2 Puget Sound League) football team gave Lakes (6-0, 3-0) all the Lancers could handle on Friday, Oct. 12, at Roy Anderson Field. But the Seahawks’ last-second pass in the end zone fell to the ground, securing a 21-15 victory for the visitors. Both teams displayed tenacious defense early in the contest.

The Gig Harbor (4-1) girls swimming team hosted Peninsula for a duel in the pool that’s the “real” Fish Bowl, according to Tides head coach Mike Kelly. Kelly’s team came away with a 116-67 victory over the Seahawks on Thursday, Oct. 3. Kelly was impressed with his team’s determination, refuse-to-lose attitude and recovery between events.

Peninsula High School pool beset with leaks, closed for repairs

The Peninsula High School pool is out of commission due to multiple leaks in pipes underground. The Peninsula swim team has been practicing at Gig Harbor High’s pool, and that’s likely to continue for the foreseeable future, with repairs not yet underway, Patrick Gillespie, Peninsula School District’s facilities director, told the school board last week.
