Both local football teams should be squarely in the state Class 3A playoff picture if they can secure wins in Puget Sound League cross-divisional games on Saturday, Nov. 1. Both teams won on Oct. 24. The Stearns Family Foundation donated $1 million and use of space West Shore Marina to Gig Harbor Junior Sailing, which plans to build a permanent facility there.

Gig Harbor and Peninsula play for the Puget Sound League girls soccer championship at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Roy Anderson Field.

The Tides led at halftime before falling to Mount Tahoma, 27-14. Peninsula’s ground game dominated in a 45-20 win over River Ridge.
