Harbor Happenings | Christmas Eve services at Gig Harbor churches
This week’s happenings are mostly contemplative, with religious services at these local churches:
Calvary Fellowship, 4902 Gustafson Dr: Christmas Eve service, 7 p.m.
Chapel Hill Church, 7700 Skansie Ave.: music and candlelight at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23; Christmas Eve candlelight services at 2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24.
Harbor Covenant Church, 4901 Gustafson Dr.: Bluegrass Christmas sing-along at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23 (Central campus); Service with impromptu Christmas pageant for kids, songs and candle lighting, 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Central campus); Christmas pageant for kids; songs, candle lighting 5 p.m. Dec. 24 (North campus).
Peninsula Lutheran Church, 6509 38th Ave.: Christmas Eve candlelight services at 4 and 8 p.m.
Peninsula Christian Fellowship, 3114 45th St. Ct.: Christmas Eve candlelight service, 7 p.m.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, 7701 Skansie Ave.: 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve (The 5 p.m. service will feature a children’s pageant; the 8 p.m. service features the church choir and carol singing).
St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 3510 Rosedale St.: Christmas Eve Nativity of the Lord Mass celebrated at 3, 6 and 10 p.m.
United Methodist Church, 7400 Pioneer Way: Christmas Eve candlelight service at 4 and 7 p.m.
Gnome hunt continues
The Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance’s gnome hunt continues this week with gnomes tucked into easy-to-find locations all along the waterfront. Nearly 30 businesses are participating. Find all the gnomes and be entered to win an I Love Gig Harbor blanket and a $50 gift certificate. Get details here.

At the movies
If a Christmas Eve movie is a tradition in your family, the Galaxy Theatres in Uptown is showing Frank Capra’s classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 9:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. as the Flashback Cinema movie on Dec. 24. Flashback movies are just $5.
