Twice a year – on the first day of summer and the first day of winter – communities all over the country celebrate Make Music Day.

For Gig Harbor’s Make Music winter event, businesses in the Uptown shopping center will host performances by local musicians from noon to about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21.

Make Music Day is put together by the mother-daughter team of Barbara Hammerman and Amanda Gresham, founders of United by Music North America under their “Fest4all” moniker.

Thursday’s Make Music Winter line-up in Uptown includes the following venues:

  • Galaxy Theatres – Josh Brulotte, Robby Vee, Kiel Scott, Mary Farr, Shenna Denney, Steve Fearey and Thea Wescott will take turns at the mic from noon–4 p.m.
  • Sleep Number – United by Music Trio with Nick, Willy and Sobie, plus the Gig Harbor Jazz Duo will perform from 1–6 p.m.
  • Panera – from 2:30–7 p.m. it’s United by Music musicians plus Rob Tudor, Josh Brulotte and TwoMacs.
  • LeLe restaurant – 4–8:30 p.m. James Coates, Billy Stoops with Leanne Trevelyan, Rob Tudor and Dave McKibbin, and the Gig Harbor Jazz Trio make music.

All venues are indoors, free and accessible to all.
