The Peninsula Emergency Preparedness Coalition (PEP-C) host a Pizza and Preparedness meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Civic Center at 3510 Grandview St. Learn about PEP-C’s Community Emergency Response Training and how people can get involved in community preparedness. History Museum exhibit ends soon

Harbor History Museum’s current show, “Filipinos and Washington’s Waterfront” tells the story of more than a century of Filipino-American history, labor, culture and community along Washington’s saltwater shores. It’s presented through a partnership with the Filipino American National Historical Society and Maritime Washington National Heritage Area, and can be viewed at the museum through Saturday, Feb. 21. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at 4121 Harborview Dr.

Pier peer

Harbor WildWatch hosts another Pier Into the Night at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7 Seas Brewing, 2905 Harborview Dr.

Divers will livestream what they encounter, projecting images on a big screen set up on the pier as WildWatch staff members identify critters. Every experience is unique, but expect to see feather-duster tube worms, sculpin and gunnels, several species of crab and nudibranch and even giant Pacific octopus.

“Urban Purrge – Resurrection” by artist TyResha Jones Smith continues in the gallery at Tacoma Community College’s Gig Harbor branch, 3993 Hunt Street. The free show is open during regular class hours through March 30.

Peninsula Art League is accepting applications for its annual Summer Art Festival July 18 and 19 at Sehmel Homestead Park. March 6 is the deadline to apply.

The city of Gig Harbor Arts Commission is looking for an artist to carve or embellish select tree snags in Grandview Forest. Click here for more information on the Harbor Arbor Art program.

Fun and games

Play bingo from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at Hidden Harbor Wine Library, 8805 N. Harborview Drive, Suite 204.

Locust Cider has Trivia Night at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18. Locust hosts its monthly pinball tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, with prizes and giveaways. The entry fee is $5. Locust is at 3207 57th St. Ct., next to the Inn at Gig Harbor.

The Beer Vault has music bingo at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, and Trivia Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at 14004 Purdy Dr.

Ocean5 has family bingo at 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Trivia Night at 6 p.m. Thursdays at 5268 Point Fosdick Dr.

The Olalla Community Club hosts an indoor swap meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20 and 21, 9 at 12970 Olalla Valley Road.

The Harbor Ukulele Group (HUG) meets at 11 a.m. Saturdays at the Gig Harbor Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Dr. Newcomers are welcome.

Olalla Winery hosts 3Trick Pony playing classic rock at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20. Buy tickets here.

Dusty Luck takes the stage at Kimball Coffeeshop at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20. Kimball also has an open mic Thursdays, with signups at 5:30 p.m. and music starting at 6 p.m. Kimball is at 6659 Kimball Dr.

Locust Cider presents LowLightRoom, indy singer-songwriter Ralph Flick’s new music project, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. All ages are welcome.

Also on Saturday, Angela Adams plays covers and originals inspired by classic rock, folk and blues at 7 p.m. at the Beer Vault.

At the movies

The Gig Harbor Film Festival’s Monday Movie Night at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Galaxy Theatres in Uptown is “Train Dreams,” a portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who lead a life of unusual depth and beauty in the rapidly changing America of the early 20th century. The Flashback Cinema movie on Wednesday, Feb. 18, is “Jurassic Park” showing at 6 p.m. At 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, it’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. Flashback movies are just $5.

The Galaxy’s Classic Film on Monday, Feb. 23, is “Rio Bravo,” starring John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson and Angie Dickinson. Showtime is 10 a.m. Galaxy Classic Movies are just $5.

Civic engagement

The city of Gig Harbor Planning Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, to work on an update to the Critical Areas code and elect the commission’s chair and vice chair. The commission meets at the Civic Center, 3510 Grandview St.

The Gig Harbor City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Civic Center on Grandview Street. The agenda includes a retirement ceremony for GHPD Lt. Fred Douglas and swearing in of a new officer; approval of a wage schedule amendment; and approval of a public works emergency construction project. City meetings can be viewed via Zoom.
