Arts & Entertainment Sponsor
Arts & Entertainment stories are made possible in part by the Gig Harbor Film Festival, a proud sponsor of Gig Harbor Now.
The “No Kings” protest is one of hundreds taking place around the country on Saturday, which is President Donald Trump’s birthday. The government plans a military parade for the same day in Washington, D.C., on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Army.
A similar protest in April drew an estimated 3,000 people to the same intersection. Saturday’s gathering is organized by Indivisible Gig Harbor and the 26th District Democrats, along with other groups.

“The willingness of people to hit the streets and add our voices to these nationwide protests shows just how worried citizens in our communities area about the threats to our democracy,” Jim Albrecht wrote in an email. Albrecht is a professor of English at Pacific Lutheran University and a Gig Harbor resident.
Similar protests are planned in Port Orchard and Bremerton.
