Battson named as Gig Harbor Chamber president/CEO

The Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced Monday that it has hired Miriam Battson as its new president and chief executive officer. Battson previously worked as the chamber’s membership development director, where she built strong community relationships and increased membership stability.

“Miriam is a long-term resident with a heart for the business community and a pleasure to work with,” said Board chairman Keith W. Page.

Battson takes over a financially strong and stable chamber the previous president, Warren Zimmerman, who recently relocated to a warmer climate, according to the Board.

“It is an honor to take over the helm of this wonderful organization,” she said. “We will continue to focus on maintaining a strong economy and inclusive community for businesses in the greater Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula area. I have an open-door policy and look forward to continuing to connect with our local businesses.”

Battson has a history in marketing, business development, business consulting, management and government relations.

Founded in 1980, the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce has been serving the greater Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula area as a business advocate for a vibrant economy and inclusive community. The chamber’s mission is to take a strong leadership position for business and community interests that encourages diverse economic opportunities. This is done by bringing together leaders from businesses, government, nonprofits and education to address the issues and needs of the community.
