This is a bit of a quiet week, as local groups gear up for Halloween happenings.

But several events are taking place that are worth noting:

Harbor WildWatch happenings

Harbor WildWatch hosts its back-in-person “Make Waves” fundraiser Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club, 8209 Stinson Ave.

The 21-and-older event will feature live music by Gig Harbor pianist Elijah Bossenbroek, special cocktails from Heritage Distilling Company, fancy appetizers from Ocean5 and a variety of items up for bid in a raise-the-paddle auction.

According to WildWatch Executive Director Lindsey Stover, the goal is to raise $40,000 to support the organization’s environmental education activities in Pierce and Kitsap counties that “foster a sense of curiosity and place and inspire stewardship in the next generation.”

As of Monday, there were only three tables left for the Make Waves event. For reservations, click here.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, Harbor WildWatch hosts another Junior Naturalist Workshop for kids 6-12 years old who want to develop their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) skills. This month’s workshop, “Forest Through the Trees,” takes place at McCormick Forest Park, 10301 Bujacich Road. There’s a $25 workshop fee, and advance registration is required.
