City seeks consultant for Masonic Lodge assessment

The city of Gig Harbor plans to seek consultants to assess the Masonic Lodge in Crescent Creek Park.

The park is undergoing a revamp, but the community has been split over the future of the lodge. The city could either tear it down or remodel it to become a gathering space.

In November 2025, staff recommended that the city pause its deliberations until a consultant could complete an Historic Structures Report. In January, the city adopted a master plan for Crescent Creek Park that excluded the fate of the lodge, until a consultant could assess the building.

The city will send out the request next week. Interested consultants must apply by Nov. 10. The city would like the consultant to finish the assessment by May 1, 2027.

A review panel that includes Historic Preservation Commission member Stephanie Lile, the executive director of the Harbor History Museum, will choose the consultant. Her fellow commissioners nominated her for the role at the commission’s Oct. 27 meeting.
