The Gig Harbor Police Department announced that it arrested a suspect in a string of burglaries at occupied homes in Gig Harbor North.

The three burglaries occurred Nov. 29. They were highly unusual in that the crimes occurred in occupied homes. The suspects stole wallets, purses and credit cards.

A social media post from the department said that a second suspect also has been identified. Officers are working to locate him.

The suspect is a 24-year-old Seattle. Gig Harbor Now typically does not name suspects until they are formally charged in court.

The suspect is being booked into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of three counts of residential burglary, three counts of second degree theft and 15 counts of financial fraud.

In December, police said that surveillance footage showed credit cards stolen during the Gig Harbor burglaries being used in Bellevue and Tumwater. At that time, Gig Harbor Chief Kelly Busey said the local burglaries likely were linked to similar crimes in King and Kitsap counties.
