Two dead in collision at corner of Soundview and Grandview

Two people died in a collision near the corner of Soundview Drive and Grandview Street on the evening of June 6.

A 50-year-old man driving a pickup north on Soundview suffered a medical emergency, “rendering him largely unresponsive,” according to a news release from Gig Harbor Police. The driver’s 15-year-old daughter attempted to gain control of the vehicle, but in continued at a high speed in the middle of the roadway.

The truck hit an SUV that was also driving on Soundview. A 66-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman died in the collision.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office will announce the identities of those killed.

The intersection was closed for several hours while police conducted an investigation.
