Police Chief Tray Federici said in the news release that the 65-year-old driver of the truck got his foot stuck between the gas and brake pedals. The truck accelerated unintentionally and hit a stop sign and a parked vehicle. It crossed over a sidewalk and smashed into the north wall of the business.
The driver cooperated with the police investigation. Federici said officers identified no criminal violations.
Gig Harbor Fire took one person who had been inside the business to the hospital for treatment. Federici said the injuries were “non-critical.”
The vehicle hit the building’s gas meter, causing a natural gas leak. Puget Sound Energy responded to contain it.
