Douglas Stephen Pollock (October 10, 1942 – May 22, 2025) passed away peacefully with his daughters, Ann and Kim, at his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carol and his parents, Neil and Frances. Doug was born in Chicago, Illinois where he grew up with his older brother, Neil. Doug and Neil were less than a year apart and enjoyed many summers of travel with their parents, including fishing together in Lake of the Woods Canada and visiting many states over the years. They both graduated from the University of Illinois and were members of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Doug’s Degree was Business and Neil’s was Architecture. Though living great distances from each other over the years, they had great fun when they got together and stayed in touch by phone frequently.

After graduation from college, Doug began a job in Chicago where he met Carol. They married in 1967 and started a family. Doug and Carol, along with their daughters Ann and Kim, moved several times in the early years while Doug worked in marketing and sales. In 1976, Doug answered the call to the priesthood. With their young family in tow, Doug and Carol moved to Austin, Texas where Doug attended the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest and earned a Master of Divinity. He was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1979, and he fully embraced his new vocation with commitment and dedication. Father Doug, as he was affectionately known, served in three churches: first in Ogden, Utah; then in Klamath Falls, Oregon; and finally at St. John’s in Gig Harbor, Washington, where he served from 1991 until 2010, when he retired from the priesthood. Doug and Carol loved Gig Harbor and spending time with the friends they had made there, so it was the perfect place to enjoy their retirement.

Always quick with a joke and a consummate storyteller, Doug never met a stranger. He was also an excellent cook and loved to share this passion with anyone who wanted to learn a technique or two. The advent of social media allowed him to reconnect with old friends from his childhood, and those renewed relationships brought him much love and joy in his final years. Father Doug’s legacy of faith, humor, and generosity will live on in the countless lives he touched.

Doug is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Neil and Karen Pollock and their two children and families, his daughter and son-in-law Ann and David Ferguson, his daughter and son-in-law Kim and Chris Martin, his granddaughter Megan and her husband Ben, his grandson Matthew and his wife Emily, his granddaughter Katherine and his grandson William.

A memorial service to celebrate Father Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00am at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, Washington. Father Doug donated to many charities in his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation, in his honor, to any charity that speaks to your heart.
