Raised in University Place, Lowell graduated from Clover Park High School in 1961 and in 1963 he joined the Washington Army National Guard. He continued his education at junior college in Everett and then finished and graduated from the University of Puget Sound in 1967 with a degree in economics and business.

During his Army career, he attended and graduated from the Washington State Officers Candidate School as a commissioned officer in 1965. His military career in the Army National Guard lasted 32 years and he retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Lowell’s civilian life and longtime work career were in the medical supply business. He served on several boards and was a member of the Governor’s board on creating and implementing statewide EMS and 911 emergency medical services. He owned and operated the first advanced life support service on the Gig Harbor Peninsula.

In his private life, Lowell’s love of boating — especially in the Puget Sound waters — led him to become involved in Day Island Yacht Club where he spent over 50 years as a member. He rose to be its commodore in 1996/97.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents Iver and Verna, older brother Milton, and younger brother Jerry. He leaves behind his wife Judy of Gig Harbor along with many friends and associates.
