Veltha Fay Prine, 85

Veltha Fay (Wilsey) Prine, 85, of Gig Harbor, Wa., passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2024.

She was born on April 15, 1941, in Fort Bragg, Ca. to Wayne and Ora (Tyson) Wilsey. Veltha grew up in the small community of Westport, Ca., and made many lifelong friends there.

Veltha spent the majority of her life in Ukiah, Ca. surrounded by longtime friends and family. She married her high school sweetheart Tom Prine and they had 50+ years together before his passing in 2010.

Veltha was an avid reader and loved being surrounded by her books. She was a huge sports fan always at her kids’ and grandkids’ games or watching her favorite basketball team the Warriors.

She was the first one to reach out to a family member or friend when they needed help or bring food for someone who was sick. She loved being with family, holidays and traveling to new places.

She loved kids of any age and they loved her. She was a teachers aide at Frank Zeek Elementary for 20+ years, she loved teaching kids to read and watching them grow.

Her greatest love was her grandchildren. She spent countless hours doing arts and crafts playing Rummy and reading with them. She loved to watch them play sports and was at every game she was able to go to.

She is survived by her sisters Rose Bednar and Sharon Pate. Her children Michael Prine, Patrick Prine and Kelly (Steve) Auradou. Her grandchildren Thomas Prine, Joshua (Yesenia) Auradou, Katlin (Vince) DeFabis, David Andrews, Lauren (John) Strangio, Casey (Danielle) Prine, Carlee (Chris) Mills, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ora and Wayne Wilsey, husband Tom Prine, sister Harlean McClenny and her grandson Robert Prine.
