From Our Board Chair | Your gift today shapes local news in 2026
As my term as President of the Board of Directors of Gig Harbor Now comes to a close, I want to personally thank you for believing in independent, community-focused journalism. Because of supporters like you, Gig Harbor Now has grown into a trusted, respected voice for our community — one that informs, connects, and holds local institutions accountable.
That trust is earned every day by our extraordinary volunteers and staff. Their commitment of time, talent, and energy ensures that Gig Harbor Now remains a reliable source of local news and a platform for local voices. They embody the very spirit of community service that defines Gig Harbor.

Looking ahead to 2026, I am confident in the leadership of our incoming board president, Dave Martens, and in the strong team ready to carry this mission forward as the eyes, ears, and voice of our community.
But I want to be clear: Gig Harbor Now exists because of community support. Advertising and grants help — but donations from readers like you make our journalism possible. If you read our stories or receive our newsletters and have not yet donated, this is a meaningful moment to step forward.
Nearly half of our annual funding comes in the final weeks of the year through our NewsMatch campaign. Right now, your contribution can go three times as far. Gifts from our Board of Directors are combined into a Community Match to boost your donation — and then matched again through NewsMatch.
A gift of $25, $50, $100, or more — or a monthly recurring donation — makes a real difference. Every dollar strengthens local reporting that serves Gig Harbor today and safeguards it for the future.
If Gig Harbor Now matters to you, please show your support during this critical time. Donate today and help ensure that independent, local journalism continues to thrive in our community.
With sincere thanks and warm wishes for a healthy, happy New Year,
Candace Savage
