From the Editor | Highlighting our recent business coverage
This spring, we partnered with our friends at GMA Research to survey you, our readers. We asked what kinds of stories you wanted more of.
Many readers requested better coverage of local business. I thought it was a fair point.
As the end of the year approaches, it’s a good time to evaluate what we’ve done since you asked us to do better on the business beat. Here are some highlights since the survey.
Our recent business coverage

- Reporter Ted Kenney dug into developments at Peninsula Shopping Center: Fusion Donut Café and Club Pilates opened there in May, followed by Big Nate’s Trading Cards in July and JAX Salon in September.
- Ted broke the news that Chick-fil-A is coming to the intersection of Point Fosdick and Olympic drives and that General Dynamics is opening a light-industrial facility in the Latitude 47 complex.
- We untangled the pharmacy shuffle that saw Bartell’s depart and CVS expand.
- We explained why homegrown Heritage Distilling is closing its waterfront tasting room.
- And just recently, we were the first to report that Ivar’s is opening a Seafood Bar in Uptown, while Taco Time’s closure is only temporary.
