Letter to the Editor | A founder’s statement to our community

Posted on February 3rd, 2026 By: Kelly Watson

For more than 80 years, aging has been shaped by systems built around decline, dependency, and limitation. I believe those systems no longer serve people the best — at Kensington Gardens, we are choosing a different path.

With nearly 10,000 people turning 79 every day, aging is not a distant issue or a future problem. It is here, now, and it deserves a thoughtful, fresh approach.

Kensington Gardens exists to change the way people age. We believe in dignity, purpose, connection, and possibility at every stage of life. We honor individuality, support independence, and place quality of life at the center of everything we do.

Changing a system that has existed for generations takes determination, perseverance, and thick skin. It means challenging old assumptions and staying committed even when the work is difficult. We embrace that responsibility because people deserve better.

Guided by honor and integrity, this is my commitment to our community: we will continue to lead responsibly and build a better way to age.
