Letter to the Editor | Build what is needed
Thank you for providing information on the “affordable housing.”
I do agree that we do need to provide housing that is more affordable for all people. I do however have concerns about offering “ incentives” to builders.
It is my understanding that one proposal involves further taxing residents in order to waive taxes for builders. This seems a bit absurd. We have certainly made many developers wealthy, I don’t feel we should continue doing so on the backs of current residents. It seems fairly simple, build what is needed.
I don’t believe the state mandates size of residences. Since it seems homes are constructed on a price per square foot, why wouldn’t it be possible to simply reduce the size to fit the budget? Am I missing something?
