Letter to the Editor | Changes are for the better
Regarding the recent Letter to the Editor | “Hands Off Protest Shows Something has Shifted“;
While the writer frequently uses the word authoritarian and lists 18 areas of government that he wants the administration’s “hand off” of, nowhere does he give evidence of what he calls the dismantling of our democracy, not one shred.
Social Security and Medicare remain intact for those who’ve paid into it; the scammers who have not and are filing false claims are cheating the system for the rest of us and need to be dealt with. What is now happening is a long-overdue scrutiny of how our government actually spends our hard-earned tax dollars and exposure of the fraud, waste and abuse thereof.
As a retired military officer and a 40-year health care provider, I’ve seen firsthand how much of our resources are wasted for political ideology and pet projects that provide no benefit to working-class individuals and families.
Yes, something has shifted; for the better.
