Gig Harbor defeated Capital, 15-14, while Peninsula upended Bellarmine, 33-13.
Both local football teams should be squarely in the state Class 3A playoff picture if they can secure wins in Puget Sound League cross-divisional games on Saturday, Nov. 1. Both teams won on Oct. 24. Gig Harbor (5-3, 3-2 PSL) traveled to Bellarmine and lit up the scoreboard in a 42-20 win. Peninsula (5-3, 4-1)
Gig Harbor and Peninsula play for the Puget Sound League girls soccer championship at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Roy Anderson Field.
The Tides led at halftime before falling to Mount Tahoma, 27-14. Peninsula’s ground game dominated in a 45-20 win over River Ridge.
